Measurement Canada

Measurement Canada is a regulatory agency of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. It is responsible for administering and enforcing the laws and requirements governing trade measurement (purchase and sale of measured goods) in Canada. These programs and services include approving and inspecting scales, electricity and natural gas meters, gas pumps, electric vehicle charging equipment and other measuring devices, and investigating complaints of suspected inaccurate measurement.

Industry refers to the manufacturers, importers, distributors, and organizations involved in the design, manufacture, installation, and sale of measuring devices used in trade measurement transactions.

Consumers

Consumers are individuals that purchase goods based on measurement.

Business

Businesses, also referred to as traders under the Weights and Measures Act, are individuals, companies, or organizations that purchase or sell, supply, or charge for goods based on measurement.

Authorized service providers

Authorized service providers (ASPs) are organizations recognized by Measurement Canada to test and certify measuring devices.
