Register to use the SMS

The modify earth station site approval process is only available in the Spectrum Management System (SMS). If you have not done so already, register to use the SMS to manage your licences and applications.

When can you modify an earth station site approval?

Use the SMS to modify an earth station site approval only if the associated spectrum licence has no outstanding fees. In these circumstances, contact your local Spectrum Management District Office for assistance.

Fees

This process does not have any associated fees. However, if fees are outstanding for the associated spectrum licence, you cannot submit a modification request until those fees are paid.

Steps to modify an earth station site approval

  1. Go to our Satellite spectrum authorizations services page. Log in using your Web Profile when requested.
  2. Scroll and click Manage an earth station site approval.
  3. Click the Modify button that matches the type of site approval to be modified.
  4. The Spectrum Management System (SMS) will walk you through the process to modify the information for the approval.

    Note: You can save your work at any point and continue at another time.

  5. Click Submit to validate that the information you entered meets system validation requirements. Sections with errors will be clearly identified in the Summary screen. Correct any errors if necessary and resubmit the request when ready.
  6. Your part is done. An ISED official will be assigned to your request to conduct its assessment.

    Note: Incomplete information will result in the application being Returned to you and its assessment stopped until the missing information is provided.

  7. Once your site approval has been authorized, you will be able to print your approval using the View or print a licence option in the SMS.
